This year’s event wasn’t just about mainstream releases—it also showcased some of the wildest, most imaginative concept cars, many of which could influence future production vehicles worldwide.

Xpeng’s Flying Electric Supercar

At first glance, Xpeng’s new flying car looks like a sleek, mid-engine supercar with a two-seat cabin and a compact footprint (196 inches long, 79 inches wide). But at the push of a button, fold-out rotors extend its width to 480 inches, transforming it into an actual aircraft. While the idea of personal flying cars still feels like sci-fi, this concept proves the tech is closer than we think.

Mengshi M-Hunter: The Hyper-Off-Roader

Resembling a Brabus 900 Crawler, the Mengshi M-Hunter made its debut as an extreme electric off-roader. Expected to launch as a limited-production model, it could become one of the world’s most expensive off-road SUVs—for reference, Brabus’s 15-unit production run costs $945,000 per vehicle.

Another standout from Mengshi was the M-Hero 917 Flood Loong edition, designed to tackle extreme terrain, including deep water. Named after a mythical river dragon, this special edition features rugged design elements and a suite of high-tech off-road enhancements.

Geely Galaxy L9: The Flagship SUV with Hi-Tech Doors

Geely’s flagship SUV concept previews the upcoming Galaxy L9 and features a mix of suicide doors and gull-wing glass panels, creating a dramatic entry system. Inside, AI-powered smart seats can be adjusted via voice commands and even slide out of the car for easier access.

The Galaxy Starship PHEV variant boasts a next-gen Geely Thor hybrid system, delivering a world-leading thermal efficiency of 46% and an astonishing 1,240-mile (2,000 km) range while consuming less than 3 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Zeekr Mix: A Lounge on Wheels

This SEA-M platform crossover-van hybrid features a pillarless body and steer-by-wire technology. Inside, the front seats can rotate 270 degrees, creating a social lounge experience. With 59-inch door openings and a length of 185 inches, the Zeekr Mix is a reimagined urban EV, expected to be priced below the Zeekr 009 minivan ($70,000).

Mazda EZ-6: The Next-Gen Electric Sedan

Co-developed with Changan, the Mazda EZ-6 is a large electric sedan positioned as the spiritual successor to the Mazda6. With dimensions of 193.8 x 74.4 x 58.5 inches, it’s noticeably larger than its predecessor and represents Mazda’s first step into a new era of electrification for the Chinese market.

De-Fine Hypercar by JAC

Making its world debut, the JAC De-Fine is an ultra-futuristic EV hypercar with a 626-hp electric powertrain capable of launching from 0-62 mph in just 3 seconds. It features an 800V battery system, promising blazing-fast charging speeds—though exact specs remain under wraps.

Hongqi’s Ultra-Luxury Coupe

Hongqi, China’s oldest premium brand, stunned attendees with a massive luxury coupe featuring gullwing doors that open access to both front and rear seats. The Rolls-Royce Wraith-style interior is separated by a full-length center console, reinforcing its ultra-luxurious identity.

Lotus Evija Fittipaldi: The $3.7M Hypercar

Limited to just eight units, the Lotus Evija Fittipaldi was the most expensive car at the show, carrying a price tag of over $3.7 million. This quad-motor EV hypercar delivers a record-breaking 2,039 hp, 1,700 Nm of torque, and a blistering 0-186 mph time of under 9 seconds. With a 92 kWh battery, it offers 250 miles of range and supports 350 kW fast charging.

Lamborghini Revuelto: The Next Aventador

Lamborghini’s successor to the Aventador, the Revuelto, is the brand’s first hybrid supercar. It features a 6.5L V12 engine paired with three electric motors, producing a combined 1,015 hp. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Priced at $900,000 in China, the Revuelto ushers in a new era of electrified performance for Lamborghini.

With a staggering 41 concept cars on display, the 2024 Beijing Auto Show provided a glimpse into the future of mobility—from flying supercars to hyper-efficient hybrids and ultra-luxury EVs.

BMW even brought its Neue Klasse concept, a nod to the brand’s 1960s-70s lineup, signaling a major shift in its design and tech philosophy for upcoming models.

Meanwhile, Dongfeng’s eπ brand revealed a futuristic EV without traditional displays, relying entirely on head-up projections and voice controls—a bold step toward a screen-free automotive future.
